Durga Puja is just around the corner and we are super excited! “Bangali manei Pujo, Bangali manei pet puja (Bengalis are synonymous to Durga Pujo, and Bengalis are synonymous to food)!”

As the air fills up with the smell of Shiuli ‘Phool (flower)’, the ‘Kash Phool (Kans Grass)’ pops up here and there, Bengal gets decked up to celebrate its most extravagant event of the year. As is ritual, pandals across the state and especially in Kolkata will get flooded with enthusiastic pandal hoppers and evenings will end with joyous get-togethers. Family and friends will return to the city and guests will start pouring into your home. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could treat them to something traditional yet something homemade?

This Durga Puja, pleasantly surprise your guests with some of Bengal’s best desserts made at home. All you need are packs of Keventer Metro Cow Milk or Keventer Metro Rich Milk and a few basic ingredients.

Before you start making these sweet Bengali milk dishes, the first thing you need to do is boil the milk and add some lemon juice or vinegar to make some ‘chhena (cottage cheese)’. Hang the ‘chhena’ in a cotton cloth and let the water drain out. There! Your key ingredient is ready for one…two…three.. oh so many easy DIY Bengali sweets!

Begin with the ‘Roshogolla’. Yes! Bangalis don’t call it Rasgulla because they fill the sweet with the ‘Rosh of labh (the syrup of love)’! The art of making it right, lies in kneading the ‘chhena’ right and turning it into perfectly round balls. Boil it in some thick syrup made of sugar and water, and you’re done!

Don’t forget to try the Chhanar payesh – the traditional Bengali kheer made with cottage cheese and thick cow milk.

If you want to appear all fancy, Sandesh is your next level up. BTW, Kalakand isn’t as tough to make as you think.

However, if you do not want to go through the trouble of making cottage cheese but still prepare a delicious sweet dish at home, we have another milk recipe up our sleeve! Simply make the Chaaler Payesh (traditional Bengali Kheer made of rice).

Which one of these special Durga Puja desserts will you try this festive season? Whichever idea you go for don’t forget to shop for Keventer Metro Cow Milk or Keventer Metro Rich Milk from Blinkit.

Holi is the most colourful festival and like most Indian festivities, it’s incomplete without delicacies. Among all the delightful offerings, you can’t miss out on thandai!

Downing a glass of thandai during Holi is deeply embedded in traditions! Made of milk, sugar, various seeds, nuts and fascinating flavourings, revellers let their hair down with this cooling drink. But who says this traditional Holi beverage needs to be one flavour? Try these thandai recipes this year!

A Classic Never Goes Out Of Style

Thandai is a Holi classic. People can’t envision a Holi party without one! When you don’t need all the extra bits, always depend on the classic. Here’s how you make it:

– Blend UHT milk with almonds, cardamom powder, fennel, khus essence, sugar or condensed milk, muskmelon seeds and white peppercorns.
– Strain the thandai and serve chilled.

A Royal Twist

Like most Indian treats, everyone makes it differently. But everyone agrees adding a few special ingredients elevates the classic thandai to the next level. Here’s how:

– Follow the recipe for the classic thandai and add a pinch of saffron.
– Serve chilled. To make this thandai extra special, decorate with silver foil and chopped almonds.

Manic About Mangoes

We’re set to welcome summer, so this is the time to indulge in the season’s best—mangoes! Here’s how:

– Make mango pulp separately. Add it to the classic thandai recipe. If you sweeten the pulp, make sure to not any extra sugar to the thandai.
– Serve chilled. Garnish with chopped mangoes!

Gulabo In The Glass

Irresistibly flavourful, delicious and aromatic, rose thandai is among the best drinks to serve guests this Holi. Here’s how you make this:

– After you have added the thandai spices and Keventer UHT milk, add rosewater, rose essence and rose petals. You can leave one of the ingredients out if you want a less potent rose flavour.
– Serve chilled with rose petals as garnish.

Your Holi party needs these awesome beverages! How else can you cool down from all the fun? Make thandai at home with Keventer UHT milk!
