There is something hopeful about planting a sapling. It may look small today, but with time and care, it can grow into a tree that provides shade, improves air quality and supports life around it.
This belief inspired a plantation drive organised by Keventer Agro Limited – Dairy Division as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The programme was held on 24 July 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Ulta Rath Yatra, in association with Gacher Kotha, a reputed environmental NGO.
A Shared Step Towards a Greener Environment
The plantation activity was carried out in and around the factory premises, including both sides of the approach road connecting the Barrackpore–Barasat Link Road to the factory.
Around 60 participants, including departmental heads, came together for the initiative. Employees worked with the soil, planted saplings and contributed directly to creating greener surroundings around their workplace.
Their participation made the programme more than a one-day activity. It reflected a shared understanding that protecting the environment is not the responsibility of one department or organisation alone. It requires people to participate, contribute and take ownership together.
Approximately 70 Saplings Planted
Approximately 70 saplings of different species were planted during the drive. These included valuable and rare varieties such as Red Sandalwood and Agarwood.
Each sapling has the potential to support the environment in different ways. As the trees grow, they can help increase green cover, improve air quality, provide natural shade and create shelter for birds, insects and other forms of local wildlife.
Planting a variety of species can also support biodiversity and help maintain the ecological balance of the surrounding area.
The benefits may not appear immediately. Trees need time to take root and become part of the landscape. However, that is what makes plantation initiatives so meaningful. They are investments in the future.
Turning Environmental Awareness into Action
