New Buildings. New Vision.

𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵. A recent Calcutta High Court ruling highlights how outdated plans can hinder development. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) had denied building permission for two properties on Christopher Road and Pulin Khatik Road based on a 1930 street plan. The plan was never implemented but still used by KMC.

The court ruled that outdated plans cannot remain valid indefinitely without action. KMC was instructed to cancel the old alignments and approve the building plans. This ruling emphasizes the importance of flexible and current urban planning.

This decision reminds us that urban policies must be adaptable and reflect the needs of the times. They should encourage development and progress, not hold it back. 𝗔𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀, 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀.
